BLOOMING ALOE

Not a great photo but today I discovered my ALOE plant was BLOOMING.
I was amazed when I saw it. LONG LONG stalk with tiny orange buds.

PET BLESSING

Brandy and I went to the Pet blessing this morning.
It was pretty funny as they had singing at this one.
They sang the song about St. Frances and
as soon as they stated the guitar and singing
this one little dog sang along with a yip yip bark bark
for the entire song.
The local petshop had a doggy bag of treats.
ONLY one cat there and a cage of parakeets.

WHAT IS ON THE ARM?

Michael went on a motorcycle trip with Ken and the
guys to the Panhandle this weekend.
We decided a little tattoo would be appropriate.
HA
We tried to find one that said BAD TO THE BONE
but this was the best we could do.
A RUB ON...FOUND it at the Halloween Store on Dale Mabry in the BIKER Costumes.
It looks pretty good for a rub on.
Debbie our niece said HE ROCKS..

SNOWMAN TABLE MAT

My Winter tablemat for Hunter Knob is almost ready.
I changed the original pattern a lot.
Instead of 4 groups of 4 snowmen I only put two single snowmen. I outlined the trees in white so that they would show up more.
The project is from a wool kit I purchased online
from
primitivegatherings.us

HEALTHY MAC AND CHEESE

I tried a new mac and cheese recipe that used butternut squash.
It was good.

STRESS RELIEVER

Michael attended a Stresss Relief workshop at work last week.
and brought home this little yellow guy with wild hair.
If you squeeze it a voice says..
RELAX
CALM DOWN
DON'T STRESS NOW
TAKE IT EASY
Brandy went crazy over it. It was pretty cute watching her.
Enjoy the photos.

WOOL BOM TOP READY

I purchased this wool BOM kit from the
quilt shop in Hiawassee in December 2008.. Here it is the end of September and the top is together and ready to quilt.
I plan to hang it from the loft at Hunter knob.

EATIN MEETIN OF THE QUILTING CLAN

During my last visit to Hunter knob I invited some georgia friends and some florida friends who have homes in georgia for a lunch and sit and stitch.
Since we ended up mostly eating and doing as show and tell the ladies referred to the day as an EATIN MEETIN... and the group as a quilting clan.
We had a great time and hope to meet again next month.

Little Visitor

Yesterday when Michael came home
from work he noticed ab tiny
squirrel walking back and
forth in front of the front door.
he called me to come out and the
little squirrel walked out to the
grass to see Michael.
He scooped it up and we called
our BIL as he is the squirrel
expert.
Got details what to get to feed it
and off I went to the grocery store.
We made a little nursery
out of an amazon box.
It seems to be eating well and
I have been feeding it every 3 1/2 hours
during the daytime.
Good news is our BIL Jimmy and
my sister Dotty are on their way
today to pick it up and take it
back with them.
They have lots of experience
raising baby squirrels.
Once they arrive my BIL
can tell the gender and
can select a name.
We have been bouncing back
lots of names this morning.
Stay tuned.

NATURE PHOTOS

As always I try to capture a couple of nature photos when are in the mountains.
God sure makes a beautiful display of the morning fog as the day begins.

SAVING A HUMMING BIRD

A little hummingbird flew in the garage and flew upstairs. Michael opened the windows hoping it would fly out but it didn't. Later when he came back the little bird was laying with it's wings stretched out about dead.....He picked it up and brought it to our feeder and put it's beak in the feedding hole. He was panting and not eating well so I filled a plastic lid with the food and Michael put it's beak in the food and it started drinking.
Within several minutes it was strong enough to stand on it's own and to our amazement it flew up in the air.
We looked at each other and couldn't believe it.
Pretty awesome.
I was able to capture the event with a few photos to share on the blog.

Three new quilts at Hunter knob

Here are the three new quilts for hunter knob.
Brandy enjoys her new quilt to lay on at the end of the bed. she likes laying there looking out the glass doors.
The hunter knob quilt fit perfect at the bottom of the stairs.
The colors matched well on the star sunflower quilt to the quilt on the bed downstairs.

Update on orphan blocks

two weeks ago I started work to redo these orphan blocks.
this photo is of the work in progress. I have removed the green circles and leaves and added tiny hexagons with pink for the flowers and a gold/tan color for the leaves.
I think I will like how they look much better.
Still lots of unsewing to do and many many many tiny hexagons to make.
Stay tuned.
and let me know what you think.

Quilters Bell Necklace

Several years ago I purchased this special
quilters bell necklace. I wore it recently while visiting the grandsons and they enjoyed the little jingle the bell made.
Indeed it is a special piece of jewlery.
With the flash on the camera I wasn't able to get a very good photo but you can get the general idea how it looks.
I looked online and they are still for sale.
I don't think I paid the price that is listed now.
Website:www.ppnq.com
Quilters Bell Necklace
the shop is Painted Pony'n Quilts in Texas.
You can see a better photo at the website.
One side is a star block and the other side the heart and hand block.

correction

Correction for the posting below.
The magazine I saw the Africa Bags was Family Circle.

AFRICA BAGS

I recently saw these African Shoulder Bags in Woman's Day magazine.
I went online to the website
www.africabags.org
and place an order for two bags.
They are reversible and made of african fabric and a neat bag to have for your use or a gift.
Here is a photo of one of the bags.
and a label to give you info about the organization.
Instead of paying by credit card I sent them a check as it those in Malawi Africa get more money that way.
Check it out when you have time.
One of the bags is for me and I am sending
one to my daughter Emily who was in Africa one summer.
